Hi there! My name is Erin Finch and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Valley View Elementary. This will be my fifth year of teaching, and my second at Valley View! For the first three years of my teaching career, I was a first grade teacher in Waco, TX. After getting married in the summer of 2017, I made the big move to Austin! I am absolutely loving Austin so far--the hiking trails, the libraries, the food and mostly the incredible people!
I am a two-time graduate of Baylor University ( Sic 'em bears! ), most recently earning my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Mathematics. My Bachelor's degree is in elementary education and I have additional certifications in English as a Second Language and Gifted and Talented. In 2016, I had the privilege of piloting a mathematics intervention program at Baylor University for kiddos entering Kindergarten and I love being back in the wonderful world of Kindergarten!
I love what I do and see my role as much more than "just a job." Building relationships with students and their families is one of my very favorite parts of teaching. Each and every student is a valuable piece of our classroom community and I am excited to explore, discover, create and learn with your kiddos. Kindergarten is a foundational year for your child and I am blessed to be a part!
Some of my favorite things are slow mornings, trips to the library or bookstore, spending time with family and friends, going to football and baseball games, and spending time at my family's lakehouse. I love polka dots, pretty flowers, the color red and all things Baylor! A few kid friendly favorites are listed on the "For the Kinders" page. ❤️
